I’m frustrated

Oxygen 25 Sound not clear in pro tools

I got myself an Oxygen 25 a few days ago. and it still is not working smoothly.
First of, the Xpand!2 plug-in is not recognized in pro tools, even though i have downloaded and installed it according to the website.

I tried it on a different laptop and it worked, but when used the midi controller the sounds are awful. It is not clipping, rather weird electric sounds. I have no idea how to explain it, but i know for sure that it shouldn't sound that way.
I am a little bit disappointed and have no idea what to do.

  • Hey Jaques,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! If you can use the Oxygen to send MIDI data and trigger the plugin, it is working. The Oxygen does not process audio itself so what you're experiencing sounds like it might have something to do with how Pro Tools is processing the audio.

There are many sounds in Xpand!2, some of which could certainly be described as weird or electronic. Can you describe how the audio sounds wrong? Is it crackling or popping? Does it sound bitcrushed (almost like an old video game)? Do all the patches in Xpand sound like this? Do other instrument plugins sound like this?

What are you using as an audio interface in Pro Tools?

    Let me know!

  • Hi.

Thank you for the reply. I don't have interface but i do own a yamaha AG03 mixer, and it works perfectly. No more bitcrushed noises. So thank you!

I would like know how to map samples to certain midi keys and to the trigger pads. I tried figuring it out , but i am lost in pro tools.

    Thank you!
    • Hey Jacques,

Sounds like you want to use a sampler-type instrument. You will assign the samples to MIDI notes in the sampler and use the Oxygen to send those MIDI notes to trigger the software. Nothing will actually get assigned to the Oxygen itself but you can use it to play the instrument to which you've assigned samples.
