Oxygen 49 sustain pedal not working in logic x pro

Hi,
I know this is a know issue but still cant make it work.
My sustain pedal is not working when I use logic x pro and control surfaces.
Ive read this thread, but it didnt solved my problem.

http://community.m-audio.com/m-audio/...

My midi monitor is getting data from my sustain pedal 127-0 / hold pedal (but logic is not showing CC64 or any other number when I play it). If I dont use control surfaces, sustain pedal works fine.

Ive tried also deleting .cs file, the issue still there.

Ive found a guy who says solved this problem using logic enviroment and transformer, but he didnt explain how to do it so I cant replicate it, and only posted a low resolution screenshot Ive tried to replicate but it seems Im doing something wrong because my pedal is still not working.
This is the thread, and I will be posting here his screenshot to you to see.

I would appreciate any help on how to change my sustain pedal midi number to CC64 in order to use my oxygen 49 faders and knobs with logic pro x

Really thanks

  • Hey Juan,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! You can reassign the MIDI CC that the sustain pedal sends with the Oxygen's advanced programming functions. Page 10 of the Oxygen's user guide will walk you through the process of reassigning the MIDI CC value that the sustain pedal will send.

If you are having some trouble with that process, the sustain pedal will send that MIDI CC by default so setting the Oxygen back to its factory presets will help get it back to its original state. The Oxygen 49 factory presets can be restored by holding down the - and + buttons while powering it on. Keep in mind that this reset will permanently erase all customized settings you've made to the Oxygen.

After you've assigned the sustain pedal to MIDI CC64 with one of the processes mentioned above, check the MIDI output of the Oxygen with your MIDI monitor to verify that it is sending correctly. If the sustain pedal sends MIDI CC64 on/off messages, the hardware is working properly.

Try that and let me know how it goes!
    • Hi, thanks for your reply. Im having trouble finding the page you recommended me on the manual. It seems manual has number pages duplicated and all mixed up, so if I search for page 10, I find it on page 26 of .pdf file, but the title is Programming a button to increment a program change... I dont think this are the right steps for my case.

I think it could be Setting Toggle Values for button or the sustain pedal? (topic I have on page 20 on my pdf, although it says page 4 on the paper)

Could you check if N20 is the page I have to follow to make my sustain pedal work again?

      I downloaded manual name:
Oxygen 49 (blue) Oxygen 49 (blue) - User Guide (English) 10-21-2009

      from here:
      http://www.m-audio.com/support/docume...

      Thanks!

Ps.Oh, I forgot: If it is so, Im lost on chossing steps for Apendix A or Apendix B of Advanced Programming Functions chapter on the manual. Which one has the right steps for solving my issue? Thanks

  • Edit. Ive followed al steps in manual but with no good results:
ADVANCED FUNCTIONS > setting trigger values for the buttons or sustain pedal.

Ive followed all the steps but changing 146 example value for 64 (as your recommended me), (midi monitor still catching it and getting 0-127 values for hold pedal) but pedal still not working...

Ive reseted the controler to factory settings several times and tried again, but still my sustain pedal dont work (unless _I deactivate surface controls from logic settings)

Could you tell me if im doing something wrong or how to solve my issue?
I got my oxygen for 6 days now and still struggling to making it work.
    thanks!

  • Hey Juan,

We can verify whether your Oxygen is sending sustain data to your computer with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer. This will tell us for certain whether the Oxygen is sending sustain and if it is, we know it is working correctly.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for Input Monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

For testing MIDI devices on Mac:
    snoize: MIDI Monitor

In the image below, I have sent a sustain message of MIDI CC 64 (the default sustain CC) to the MIDI monitor. I pressed the sustain pedal down and the following data was the result:

As you can see, there is an ON message of 127 and an OFF message of 0. If your Oxygen sends an ON message and OFF message on MIDI CC 64 like my image, it is working correctly. If the Oxygen sends MIDI data from its sustain port but it is of a different value, you can reprogram it with the method I mentioned in my post above. If you cannot send any data from the Oxygen's sustain port, please let me know.

If you find that the Oxygen is sending sustain data correctly and you are still having trouble with Logic, I would recommend reaching out to Apple directly for some additional software support.

    I hope that helps you!
